INTRODUCTION OF NIGERIAN DEAF WOMEN (NNAD WOMEN'S SECTION)

The NDW is the National Organisation of all Nigerian Deaf girls and women. It seeks the advancement of it’s member in various aspects of their social, economic, political etc and well being. The NDW is to the deaf girls and women community what NNAD is to the genernality of Nigerian deafs, a National and public umbrella and Affiliate of NNAD affording us the privilege to speak with one voice in all matters that concerns our members – mostly the Nigerian deaf girls and women, before the Nigerian Government and other NGOs we related with.

Charity James Diyong, National Women Leader

Charity James Diyong hails from Jos, Plateau state. A Graduate of the University of Jos Nigeria, B. Sc. Ed. Hearing Handicap/Special Education. She have worked with various schools for special children which include Model Teaching Centre UNIJOS and Otana Edu-Health services Jos.

She also is the owner of innovations enterprise restaurant located in Jos, Plateau state. She also held various positions in the Deaf Associations and other organizations,  served in constitution draft committee for NNAD Headquaters, State Level and some organisation’s and is also serving as a board member of international concept of persons with disabilities, and lot more.

She was one time chairperson of Plateau Association of the deaf which is an affiliate of Nigerian national Association of the Deaf, NNAD.

She is presently the National Women Leader of Nigerian National Association of the Deaf and also Steering Committee member representing NNAD for the proposed Gallaudet in Nigeria Africa (Gain).

 Charity  is the present Deputy Vice President of Deaf Teachers Association of Nigeria (DTAN) for North central Zone. She is presently working with Plateau State Government as a Teacher at the Plateau School for the Deaf Jos. A Government owned School.

Hon. Carol Onu, National Women Secretary

Hon. Carol Onu hails from Onicha in Ezinihitte Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State, Nigeria. She has BSc (Second Class – Upper Division) in Government and Public Administration and Masters of Public Administration (MPA). She is a Full Member of Chartered Public Managers of Nigeria; and presently pursuing her second masters programme in Bible and Theology.
Sis Carol Onu also holds the executive position of Deputy Zonal Coordinator (DZC) South East Zone of Nigerian National Association of the Deaf (NNAD) and has served in various Zonal and National Committees ‘such as Chairperson Constitution Review NNAD SE Zone, Secretary National Constitution Review NNAD, member Constitution Formation Committee Later Deafened Adults etc.
As a trained and active Christian Missionary, Sis Carol (as popularly called) serves as a Christian mentor to both deaf and hearing youths alike; holds various positions as a worker in her local Church (Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) at her work station; serves as a volunteer Evangelist in some Deaf ministries and maintains an online Christian Page: DEAF Christians and Friends. She is a staff of Ebonyi State Government. Her hobbies INCLUDE COOKING, READING, VOLUNTEER WORKS AND TRAVELING.
